Alex and I met almost 6 years ago on an online video game. I won’t give you the whole “It was love at first sight” because it was not. We spent many nights planning out our builds for our character and going over maps to learn the correct way to run the maps when you are playing PVP (Person vs Person) and what mobs in PVE (Player vs Environment) gave us the most experience to level up our characters so that we could even compete with the best in the game. Somewhere along the lines of chatting and making builds, we learned little pieces of information about each other and the main one was that we really enjoyed talking to each other. After talking for a while in the game we began texting through an app and then onto Facebook. A facebook that I had made so that I wasn’t adding random unknown people to my facebook where my family and friends were. A huge thing was keeping my children private from people I knew nothing about really. Eventually, we moved onto chatting on the phone and video chatting through Skype. Alex then asked me if I would be his girlfriend. I, of course, said that I would. We spent many sleepless nights chatting until I could no longer stay awake and fell asleep on the phone, to which Alex would listen to me sleep for a while then go to bed himself. This went on for months. Us building a relationship on talking at night and our love for a video game amongst other things. Our want to travel, laugh, enjoy life really. I didn’t want to work my life away from someone else, I wanted to pave it for my own. Work for me. I love writing, taking pictures, art, things like that. Alex likes to help people, play video games, read really awesome fantasy books, things like that. We want to travel across our beautiful country and see things that if we live in one spot we may never see. Life isn’t meant, in my opinion, to be lived tied down. You are supposed to feel it all. Take it all in. Feel the grass beneath your feet, the sand between your toes, the wind in your hair, the sun on your shoulders, the rain on your face and the snow on your tongue. Life at its very best. We are working towards the traveling part. We will get there one day I am sure of that. I dream big! I always have. I want to do so much with my life. I want to see so many things. Feel so many things. Alex eventually moved to Iowa from South Carolina and we have been together ever since. In the good and the bad. The fun and the sad. Life has this amazingly gruesome way of throwing you some curve balls right after some of the best days. T’is life though and you just have to go with the flow and deal. Hopefully, in those times of rough waters, you have someone to share with that make your load just a bit easier as they hold your hand through it all. Whether it be a friend, a family member, or your mate for life. I hope each and every one of you have that.
